PreK: Week of February 15
Good Evening! Well I must say I am a little disappointed in Punxsutawney Phil and his weather prediction! It is just way too chilly Phil!!
This week, we will continue to have the Post Office in our Dramatic Play area with a House next door. The Post Office has been a high interest area for the children. We have added some new boxes, stampers, writing tool, and other props to support the Imaginative play and Social Skills that are blossoming in that area.
Our Valentine’s Day Party started with Parachute games with all of our families and ended with the children exploring their mailboxes filled with goodies and valentines. Of course we had wonderful snacks to share and a few moments to share stories with the families. I love the multigenerational parties from grandparents to toddlers. Thank you families for your continued support and participation.
This week we will read “Have you filled your Bucket today”? This is a positive character-development program called Bucket Filling. Bucket Filling is an easy to understand concept. Everyone carries an invisible bucket that holds our thoughts and feelings. Children quickly understand that they can fill their buckets when they do and say things that are kind, considerate, caring, and respectful. Each child will have a bucket in the classroom and it can be filled with pom-poms as positive behaviors are noted to them. When filled, the child will cash in for a special choice activity- IPad, music, outside time, with adult of his choice. These are just a few examples. If you would like more information there are several web sites available under Bucket Fillers.
This week we will continue to explore our Animals in Winter, specifically Arctic and Antarctica Animals. We will watch a couple (very) short clips from National Geographic on the different regions. These are a great resource to share facts of these animals in their natural habitat.
Wishing you a beautiful week from Marvelous Monday to Fabulous Friday.
