3’s/2’s: Week of February 8
We had a great week exploring Chinese New Year and Valentine’s Day in the classroom! Our dramatic play was set up as a Chinese restaurant. The children loved dressing up in authentic Chinese garb while taking orders and making sushi. We were able to work on their language skills and social-emotional development, while interacting with each other during this time. The class made Chinese lanterns, which worked on their cutting and fine motor skills.
The children loved the writing table this week and had a great time making Valentine’s Day cards and collages, which worked on our fine motor skills, creativity, and descriptive language! At snack on Monday we were lucky enough to be able to try dumplings made by a mom! During snack time on Friday we had a Valentine’s Day party and our families came in to participate as well. There were lots of yummy treats to eat. On the playground, our class loved exploring the bikes and scooters again now that the snow has melted. This showed us their strong gross motor skills and hand eye coordination. We had a great week and are looking forward to what next week has in store!
